Other Comments: We knew Dallas was reknowned for it bbq houses so we googled and decided to try out Pecan Lodge. We went around 6pm and the queue was outside the door so we went for a drink at Braindead Brewinng (also recommend) until the queue died down.

When we eventually got in, after a 20 minute wait in the queue (which was inside at this point) we ordered the brisket, pulled pork and southern fried chicken with sides of mac n cheese and coleslaw. Unfortunately the pork ribs sold out two people before us, much to Stephen’s devastation! So, I’m not sure what we were expecting but unfortunately we were a little disappointed.Yes, the meat was smokey but it was also dry. We had to drown it in bbq and hot sauce (available on the shared tables) which was still delicious but I think we expected it to be out of this world and it just wasn’t. The mac n cheese was good, coleslaw average.

Pecan Lodge has a great back story which was great to read about whilst queing up. I wouldn’t go back but I think it’s a good place for an authentic experience of a mom and dad set up, hot chefs shouting out orders, with a chalky written menu. If we are in Dallas again, we would do a little more research and try another bbq house.
